A quick introduction to blogging
Blog is an abbreviation for weblog, which is a term used to describe web sites that manage an ongoing account of information. A blog is an often updated website featuring short stories and links to articles on other Web sites. Blogs have a wide spectrum. Nowadays they can range from personal diaries to just about anything.
Blogs tend to have some things in common.
- A main content area with the newest articles appearing first.
- Articles that are usually separated into categories.
- An archive of older articles or posts.
- A comments section for visitors to leave their thoughts.
- A blogroll, which is a link list to other sites.
On a blog, the content area comprises of articles or posts that the author writes. Typically, the blog author or authors write their articles in the web-based interface which is built into Wordpress. A blog can have several authors at the owners discretion.
One of the most exciting features of any blog is being able to leave comments on any article. Learn your readers thoughts, create interaction in your small community and feel your website come to life.
A blogroll is a list of links to other sites that the author finds noteworthy. They can be categorized. For instance, say you had a sports blog, you could categorize your blogroll by basketball blogs, football blogs, etc.
