Introduction to Feeds
A feed is a function that allows “feedreaders” to access a web site, automatically looking for new blog content and then posting the information about new content and updates to another web site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest information being read on different blogging sites.
The kinds of content delivered by a web feed are typically web stories or links to webpages and other kinds of digital media. Often when websites provide web feeds to notify users of content changes or updates, they only include summaries rather than the full content itself.
Feedreaders typically use an aggregator or feed reader, which pulls feeds from many locations and puts them at the readers fingertips for easy reading.
More information on feeds can be found in the Wordpress Codex.
There are several types of feeds, read by many types of feedreaders. Some Feeds include Atom or RDF files and RSS also known as “Rich Site Summary” or “Really Simple Syndication”.
