SEO Mistakes

In order for any website or blog to be truly successful it must be search engine optimized.

Mistakes are often made by webmasters or web site owners that can do a great deal of damage to a sites search engine ranking.  Such damages can be causing new visitors to ignore your site, poor search engine results and not being indexed at all.

Here is a small list of common search engine optimization mistakes and what you can do to correct them.

  • Not using title tags

These are one of the strongest digital weapons you have in your arsenal.  Make use of your tags when you author a post.  Use words or phrases that best match your content.

  • Duplicating title tags

Taking simple steps can make a big difference in the visibility of your Web site or blog. Take time in determining original tags for your content.  Also, keep in mind to use keywords that are what people are searching for.

  • Not using keywords in internal navigation (links)

Use keyword rich content targeted descriptions when linking internally.  These links hold a great deal of SEO weight.

  • Text advertising in the sites content area

Something I learned from first hand a long time ago.  My search rankings took a serious hit, not to mention when you did a google search of my site the text ad showed in my sites description.  Simply put, don’t do it.

  • No use of a sitemap

For those that don’t know, a sitemap is representation of a sites architecture.  Put yourself in a spiders shoes.  How can you get where you’re crawling if you dont know where you’re crawling?

    im a newbie in Search Engine Optimization and i still need to study more on internal linking. Currently, what i do to optimize my website is just make as many backlinks as possible.
